Fulltiming, another bonus.

by: Gromett October 31, 2009

Just realised it is Halloween.  I won’t have to put up with people knocking on my door all night or throwing eggs at my van.  I also didn’t need to stock up with sweets which would end up being binned. Another Bonus of being a fulltimer without a house

Black Waste and macerator

by: Gromett October 31, 2009

I have found a decent Macerator at a reasonable price via ebay.  Using this in combination with a 3 way valve, 100Liter tank and a long hose means toilet duties will be reduced from every 5 days to once a month and will be a much easier process.  I will be purchasing all the tanks [...]

Grey water tank location and pump

by: Gromett October 31, 2009

I have been concerned about having to put the grey water tank under the vehicle due to the possibility of it freezing in winter. I have now found a couple of methods that will make this unnecessary.

Busy Couple of Days, New Van, Windows 7 and flyscreens

by: Gromett October 29, 2009

I have replaced the flyscreens in all the roof vents,  I did one and it was a beatiful clean white and made the rest look grubby.  It all looks good now.  The supplier I mentioned in my last post was excellent and I would recommend them. I installed Windows 7 3 days ago and BOY [...]

Fly Screen Material

by: Gromett October 15, 2009

I was a little heavy handed while swatting some flys in the van and ripped the flyscreens on one of my roof windows.  After much searching I found this supplier who sells it by the 1Mtr Length.  I will buy 1 mtr now and see if it is any good then will buy a load [...]

Some nice features? Entrance Area

by: Gromett October 13, 2009

I have been looking at the big features of the van for some time now and decided today to look at a couple of smaller features.  Things that niggle in normal commercially built vans that I can do better in my self build. Entrance layout As the entrance to most commercial vans (well the ones [...]

Blanking Un-Needed Windows

by: Gromett October 11, 2009

The buses I am looking at have 3 windows down the side and one at the rear.  These are single glazed windows so the vehicle will be cold in the winter, hot in the summer and condensation is a serious concern. I am looking at removing the rear to windows on both sides and the [...]

All major components now chosen

by: Gromett October 11, 2009

Here is a run down of the equipment I will be installing.  This just covers the major cost items so far.  I have not settled on a final layout for the van yet as I don’t know the full size of the vehicle until it is actually bought. I will be using copious amounts of [...]

Self Build Hot air and Hot water system

by: Gromett October 9, 2009

I was initially looking for a cheap solution to this but have not been able to find one so have decided to go with these items from Cak Tanks. The decision at the moment is Propex Heatsource 2800 for hot air and the Malaga MkIII GE for the hot water. I was hoping to find [...]

Cutting out the background from a picture

by: Gromett October 8, 2009

I needed to do a new header for this site as the old one wouldn’t fit into the space.  I had only one photo of my van so needed to clean out the background. This tutorial here was excellent and using this and Gimp got the background cleaned out in no time.  Very handy tutorial.
