Stop and bone

I was invited to a friends Restaurant  in France where they were serving a fish I had never eaten before.  As I was about to put the first forkfull in my mouth Marie shouted “arrêt” (Stop).  I of course stopped and looked quizically at her.  She pointed at me and said “arête, arête” (Bone)……

After much confusion at being told to Stop and then being told the same again and again with lots of pointing she finally came round the table and pulled a 4 centimetre bone from the fish on my fork to much laughing from the other guests in the Restaurant who by now were all looking at me…..
